There’s Always Work to Be Done
Our property isn’t just for show. It’s a true, working ranch, complete with cattle and cowboys and timber-framed barns.
Decades ago, this land was owned and operated by an eight-member grazing association that included one Alvin Moses. The association’s holdings extended north to West Mountain near Cascade, and south to Sweet. The ranch originally ran approximately 800 head of cattle, and in the 1970s Alvin and his son, Roy, began to expand their ownership in the association. By the 1990s, they owned it all.
It was a struggle to keep the ranch together. But the Moses family has been able to do it through hard work and good management, retaining most of the association’s original assets — including what is now the Lazy R Ranch.
We’re grateful for the hard work, perseverance, and determination that has kept this ranch together. Many life skills have been learned here, many special moments celebrated with family and friends. We’re so pleased that we’re able to share ranch life with you for the special occasions and learning experiences in your life.
